Phase 1 Reflection:
How well did I perform during Phase 1 of IS101-3003/5? I think that overall, I did well. Although, there are some areas where I could improve. For the majority of this first part, I was simply keeping pace with deadlines. In the future, I think getting well ahead of assignments would benefit me more.
4.6.7 Document Editing Tips:
Lesson 4.6.7 in LabSim taught me how to edit documents and what general rules to follow when doing so. One of the most helpful tips I learned was the replace tool. This tool allows a user to find and replace all examples of a word or term in a document at once. This can help me outside of IS101 by allowing me to cut down on the amount of time spent editing documents.
Hi Scott, I get what you mean about just keeping pace, but for me it was kind of the opposite, I tried to get ahead early because I didn’t want that constant pressure of deadlines stacking up. It honestly made a big difference for me mentally, since I could focus more on understanding the tasks instead of rushing through them.
ReplyDeleteThe replace tool you mentioned is actually one of those small things that ends up being really powerful, especially when you’re dealing with repetitive edits. It saves a lot of time and frustration once you start using it more.
For the MO-110 prep, I also relied a lot on LabSim and the practice exams, mostly repeating them until it felt automatic. Even when I felt prepared, I still had that bit of doubt, but I think that’s normal. If anything, your confidence coming out of those practice exams is a really good sign.
Yes, I think you did well in Phase 1, Scott :-)
ReplyDeleteYou will do better in Phase 2 by getting ahead of the assignments!
Very glad to hear the find-and-replace feature is already cutting down the amount of time you spend on editing documents outside of IS101 ^_^
Hi Scott, The study guide process truly is beneficial to succeeding for the upcoming exam it was a huge help to me as well. Considering however much time you dedicate towards preparing for that exam there is no doubt in my mind you will feel confident in taking the exam. Through experience I can say most study guides in other classes aren't all that useful but the practice exams are near perfect!
ReplyDeleteHi Scott!! I can relate to what you said about just keeping pace with deadlines during Phase 1, it really does feel like staying on track is the main focus at first. Planning to get ahead of assignments sounds like a good next step.
ReplyDeleteHey Scott, the preparation by going back to LabSim and reviewing the work is exactly what I did to help me on the Word Exam. I'm sure I'll be doing the same for the Excel Exam, it's always good to look back at the material, especially when there's a lot to go through. Have a great rest of the semester!
ReplyDeleteBefore taking this class, I wasn’t even aware of the many editing features that Word has. One of the features that I like is the thesaurus option that appears when you right-click on a specific word. This is helpful when I am paraphrasing a sentence. The thesaurus feature allows me to easily see what words that can be used to see the synonyms of a word that I am paraphrasing.
ReplyDeleteHi Scott. I also tend to keep pace with the deadlines instead of getting ahead, not having to worry about a due date seems nice. But for some reason I'm lots more productive under pressure. If I were the kind of person who writes a lot in Word I think the find and replace tool would be a lifesaver. Reviewing each chapter again seems like a lot of work! I'm glad it works for you.
ReplyDeleteHello Scott, I thought it was very interesting the different lock options you have to protect a document against a possible disaster. I hope that you were able to get ahead we are almost ready for summer!
ReplyDeleteHi Scott, I also prepared for the MO-110 Word exam by watching Labsim and reviewing each chapter of Word. It help me remember the stuff that I forgot. Yes, also C.2 and C.3 were very helpful for the exam.
ReplyDeleteHello Scott, the find and replace tool was one of the most helpful tools LabSim taught. It cut so much time from the editing process allowing me to focus on other aspects on my assignments.
ReplyDeleteHi Scott, the Find and Replace tool was intriguing to me because instead of having to read through your writing over and over again to find words, you can simply search it up and change the words you want. Going back and reviewing with LabSim definitely helped me with my exam as well.
ReplyDeleteHey Scott! Getting ahead of assignments is something I will definitely be doing in the future! Glad to hear LabSim has been helping you study for the exams ^_^
ReplyDeleteThe practice exams were very helpful in passing the MO exam. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who feels that way.
ReplyDeleteHi Scott, I also found the replace tool really helpful since it makes editing much faster and more efficient. I started using it all the time because English is not my first language, so it helps me catch small mistakes. It’s also great that the practice exams helped you feel confident going into the MO-110.
ReplyDeleteHaving a faster way to edit your documents is actually a life saver when you spent so much writing something just to realize you misspelled a word 5 pages ago. In windows, I believe you can use Ctrl+F on your keyboard to find certain words when you're in a website. Just a little fun fact.
ReplyDeleteThe replace tool is honestly one of the best shortcuts in Word once you learn it. It saves so much time editing documents. Sounds like you prepared really well for the MO-110 exam too.
ReplyDeleteHi Scott, I liked your reflection on how staying on pace helped you get through Phase 1 while also showing where you can improve.
ReplyDeleteHey Scott, both me and you can agree that we turned in on time and were on track, sometimes I did catch up and have some grace period but sometimes that's all we could do, what matters is don't let anxiety get in the way if we can do it on time, its cool, if we could do it ahead, even better!
ReplyDelete"One of the most helpful tips I learned was the replace tool." I very much agree with this! I think it makes everything so convenient. Just wanted to share since it is kind of related to this tool, we were allowed to use digital notes for one of my exams and the CTRL + F feature really helped me instantly find what I am looking for by using keywords instead of reading every single thing in a lot of pages. I love the replace tool and CTRL + F shortcut!
